Secomea’s unique Relay Services technology is the key to continuous service. This technology – an evolution from our first-generation VPN-based RDM solution - effectively eliminates the traditional issues with IPSec VPN such as IP address and subnet conflicts between different customer networks, routing VPN traffic through customer networks, and the requirement for changes to customer firewalls.
Two kinds of relay services are available:
Static Device Relays and Server Relays provide permanent channels of bi-directional communication between device and centralized management systems. For example, a static server relay allows a device to deliver unsolicited alerts to an alarm server. This kind of relay service uses statically configured IP adresses for servers and devices.
Dynamic Relay Services are activated automatically when a LinkManager connects to a SiteManager or a device connected to a SiteManager. The IP addresses used by the SiteManager and LinkManager are exchanged on-the-fly, and both ends automatically adapt to the actual IP addresses involved, making the communication appear as if the LinkManager PC and the device were directly connected to each other.
Working with GateManager™, the SiteManager ensures uninterrupted and secure access over the internet or private WAN.
To deal with the possibility of connection failure, SiteManager 2029 offers communication failover between two types of media: wired media through the Ethernet UPLINK port, and wireless media through the port for a UMTS / GPRS PC-Card.
Secomea RDM provides management of both IP-networked and serial-port attached products. This ensures the compatibility with both legacy and new devices.
