What can machine data be used for? 
Machine data can give valuable insight into actual machine performance, enabling you to react before error happens, optimize production processes, make better decisions for managing operators of the machines, and finally start analyzing trends and statistics to constantly optimize both machine components and processes. All in all, machine data increases the effectiveness of the machine and its crew.

How do I generate value of machine data? 
To convert machine data into valuable knowledge, you need to invest in a platform that offers intuitive tools to visualize and analyze your data. There are cloud solutions such as the Secomea Data Collection Cloud (DCC) that make it easy for your team to visualize data in customizable dashboards.

Can I collect from more than one machine or component? 
The SiteManager IoT Gateway allows you to collect data from several devices simultaneously. The aggregator of the SiteManager can be configured to collect with different frequency from different devices and do calculations locally, such as only collecting data from certain registers when another register has a certain value. This is what we call “smart aggregation”.

Can I send data to more than one cloud?
The SiteManager can be configured to send collected data to multiple clouds concurrently. You can send all data to all clouds, send raw data to some, and pre-processed data to other clouds. This allows you to perform OEE calculations on one cloud system and build manufacturing dashboards on another while feeding data into your ERP simultaneously and transparently.

What if connection is lost to the cloud?
The SiteManager has a store-and-forward data base that ensure that if the internet connection is lost, the data will be stored and submitted once the connection is restored. Some models can be extended with a SD-card module that can ensure safe storage of several days of downtime.

What does it cost to enable data collection?
The Data Collection Module (DCM) is an integral part of a SiteManager, so if you have purchased a SiteManager for remote access, then you can freely enable the data collection. Your cost is defined by the cloud subscription you have, but the SiteManager’s “Smart Aggregation” allows you to intelligently reduce the amount of data sent to the cloud while still enjoying the full benefit of the collected data.

Are data sent to a cloud encrypted?
Yes, the Cloud protocols in the SiteManager all use the encrypted versions of the different cloud protocols.

Can I collect data from all kinds of industrial equipment?  
The SiteManager supports all major industrial protocols, including Modbus, Siemens S7, Rockwell CIP or Ethernet/IP, Rest/http, and OPC UA in both standard and encrypted mode. Most PLCs will support at least one of these protocols, if not natively, then by loading the appropriate module.
