IoT Data collection is the smartest way for machine builders and manufacturers to increase machine uptime and save costs. Data gives you valuable insight into actual machine performance statistics that ensure constant real-time tracking and monitoring of machine health, production status, and empowered decision making with historical analysis.
In this way, machine operators and maintenance staff are well equipped to make informed decisions and generate accurate predictions based on machine data.

With the SiteManager IoT Gateway you can collect data from several devices simultaneously and send the data raw or pre-processed to different clouds. This allows you to perform OEE calculations on one system, build manufacturing dashboards on another, while feeding data into your ERP – simultaneously and transparently. The Secomea Data Collection Cloud (DCC) will provide you with a solid turnkey foundation for both OEE and real-time machine data monitoring.
By combining IoT data collection with remote access, you can take immediate action on errors and prevent failures before they occur to avoid unplanned downtime. Without even having to leave your location, you can access real-time data from your remote installations and instantly correct failures before they become problems.
Collecting data from machines also enables operators to swiftly enact countermeasures and eliminate risks in the future. By correlating the data from one machine with other installations of the same type, you can identify patterns that predict failures before seeing any specific indications. This optimizes machine uptime and decreases operational costs, allowing you to decide where to invest improvements on components repeatedly subject to stops while saving on historically durable elements.
Monitor and track machine consumables and optimize customers’ logistics to prevent bottlenecks. Track wear and tear for spare parts to plan downtime, prevent breakdowns, and make sure stock is acquired in time for replacement. Ensure constant real-time machine data monitoring of equipment health, production status, and historical analysis.
IoT Data Collection makes it possible to offer a more proactive service package in a standard service contract. Machine data provides service engineers accurate information about a given production that empowers them to speed up problem resolution, make smarter decisions, and enhance their maintenance services. Engineers are then far better equipped to evaluate parameters for each machine, react more quickly to any impending issue, and even predict failures based on historical maintenance and failure records.
The ability to engage in predictive maintenance from a distance is an excellent unique selling proposition that machine builders and OEMs can offer to their clients as part of their service package. When moving your service approach from reactive to proactive, you take your service to the next level and ensure uptime at the client’s factory floor.
Secomea’s Data Collection Cloud (DCC) provides you a solid turnkey solution for managing and visualizing machine data.
For manufacturers, it has never been more important to deliver high-quality products quickly and at low-cost. Data is a key asset to uncover new ways to optimize your resources and increase business profit. Collecting production data to measure overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) is a manufacturing best practice and opens up an unknown potential for improvement of productivity. Data gives you valuable insights about the quality, availability, and performance of your industrial equipment and how to achieve maximum productivity. If an unexpected breakdown happens, analysis of the collected data can pinpoint errors leading up to the failure and identify potential areas for improvement.
To convert production data into valuable knowledge, you need to invest in a platform that offers intuitive tools to visualize and analyze your data. Analysis of aggregated data in the cloud provides a clear picture of what, when, and where errors or underperformance occur. This enables operators to swiftly enact countermeasures, eliminating the problem in the future and operating at maximum speed and capacity.
There are cloud solutions that make it easy for your team to build customized dashboards, just by focusing on what data points drive decision-making in daily operations. Armed with the analysis these dashboards provide, your team can increase output and reduce downtime, continually pushing for optimal performance. Once this is refined and documented, the same technology assists in historical analysis and record keeping so that your organization can continue to evolve and define best practices.
Secomea’s Data Collection Cloud (DCC) provides tools to help bring your data to life and unlock the maximum potential of your equipment.

What can machine data be used for?
Machine data can give valuable insight into actual machine performance, enabling you to react before error happens, optimize production processes, make better decisions for managing operators of the machines, and finally start analyzing trends and statistics to constantly optimize both machine components and processes. All in all, machine data increases the effectiveness of the machine and its crew.
How do I generate value of machine data?
To convert machine data into valuable knowledge, you need to invest in a platform that offers intuitive tools to visualize and analyze your data. There are cloud solutions such as the Secomea Data Collection Cloud (DCC) that make it easy for your team to visualize data in customizable dashboards.
Can I collect from more than one machine or component?
The SiteManager IoT Gateway allows you to collect data from several devices simultaneously. The aggregator of the SiteManager can be configured to collect with different frequency from different devices and do calculations locally, such as only collecting data from certain registers when another register has a certain value. This is what we call “smart aggregation”.
Can I send data to more than one cloud?
The SiteManager can be configured to send collected data to multiple clouds concurrently. You can send all data to all clouds, send raw data to some, and pre-processed data to other clouds. This allows you to perform OEE calculations on one cloud system and build manufacturing dashboards on another while feeding data into your ERP simultaneously and transparently.
What if connection is lost to the cloud?
The SiteManager has a store-and-forward data base that ensure that if the internet connection is lost, the data will be stored and submitted once the connection is restored. Some models can be extended with a SD-card module that can ensure safe storage of several days of downtime.
What does it cost to enable data collection?
The Data Collection Module (DCM) is an integral part of a SiteManager, so if you have purchased a SiteManager for remote access, then you can freely enable the data collection. Your cost is defined by the cloud subscription you have, but the SiteManager’s “Smart Aggregation” allows you to intelligently reduce the amount of data sent to the cloud while still enjoying the full benefit of the collected data.
Are data sent to a cloud encrypted?
Yes, the Cloud protocols in the SiteManager all use the encrypted versions of the different cloud protocols.
Can I collect data from all kinds of industrial equipment?
The SiteManager supports all major industrial protocols, including Modbus, Siemens S7, Rockwell CIP or Ethernet/IP, Rest/http, and OPC UA in both standard and encrypted mode. Most PLCs will support at least one of these protocols, if not natively, then by loading the appropriate module.
